Black Bear Run

Run was not as well as I really thought it would be. During the middle of the run, got HOT and WINDY. This proved today that I am for a long ride, on a long road of hard work for Louisville on 8/31/08.

Black Bear Swim

Swim was slow and I almost decided to stop here at the swim. I know this is not a good part of the race, but really there were a few times that I felt like stopping. Not only could I not do that, I could not face the rest of my running club.

Black Bear Half Iron - 6/1/2008

Not what I had hoped for, but as many of you can see, there was not much for training over the past 6 months. The energy level was not there, and neither was the weather. my race was better than last year by 2 minutes. Which was very surprising. The swim, well,30th of 38 in age and of 397 overall swimmers, a weak 336. knowing this was the weakest of all links for me to start. This has also started my “hard” traing for Louisville. The weather has broken, although too the extreme. High 90’s here is Pa. I hope all of you have had better training than I have.

REST DAY

Rest day already. 5 degrees outside. BRRRR!!!!!!This is very early training and I really never followed this schedule before. I will say,that this year I am trying to NOT do more than schedules so that my body will rest as needed. Soon, need to up the weekend runs. I will be assisting\pacing (for 40 miles at night time), one of the 12 members of our running club at the MMT 100 mile race. We \ he hopes to be 26:30 hours or less. Last year we did this and he ran a 28 hour run. One day I will go back and run this again. I did this 3 years ago and did 29 hours. The winner however ran a 17:31:00. For now, the TRI’s have overtaken long, long runs. I have a 10k race this Sunday locally and hope to break the 40 minute mark. 4 weeks ago ran 40:30, It really was hard on me to do that. Used to run it at 39. That is part of reality when you are not running for speed and only distance I guess. I know for many, this would be slow. It is for me,but have not done fast,short road races in 2 years. Need for speed to come back now.

Day two is COLD!!!!

Day two brought COLD air and wind to us here in the NE. Had run inside on the treadmill anin the morning had swam for 40 minutes at the gym pool. Can not wait until it is 60 degrees again and can swim outside.
